Traders have cut down the price of gold by Tk 1,225 per bhori (11.664 gram) in the local market.

This is the second time in less than a month after the gold price had been reduced earlier.  Bangladesh Jewellers’ Samity (BAJUS) said the revised rates would be effective from Saturday (today).  Gold prices have been fluctuating for about two years.  On Nov 9 prices were reduced by Tk 1,225  per bhori, but on Oct 17 it was raised by Tk 1,500 per bhori.  "We've adjusted the prices with those prevailing in the global market," BAJUS General Secretary Enamul Haque Khan told the news agency.  From Saturday each bhori of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 41,290 – or Tk 3,540 per gram – down from Tk 42,515 per bhori, according to a news agency.  The price cut also means a bhori of 21-carat gold will be available for Tk 39,191 and 18-carat gold can be purchased for Tk 32,542.  Gold sold through traditional methods will cost Tk 21,462 from Saturday, down from Tk 22,686 per bhori.  The price of silver, too, has been slashed by Tk 58 per bhori. Each bhori will now cost Tk 845, down from Tk 933.
